with Lew Ayers

When: Tuesday, June 21st  at 7:00pm
Cost: $25.00

Lew Ayers will be presenting and demonstrating his techniques for throwing large vessels which he has developed during his many years as a production potter.

Lew Ayers began his clay adventure in 1969 while attending Rutgers University. Though graduating with a MEd in 1972 and   beginning a teaching career, Lew also enjoyed an active pottery career. He ran a home clay studio in beautiful Sussex County, NJ, marketing his reduction stoneware, sagger, and raku at juried retail and wholesale art and craft shows. Some of his NYC based accounts included Macy's, Crate and Barrel, Donna Karan, and Aero.

He is recognized for his large silver raku vessels. Though Lew is currently not marketing his work he is an active potter enjoying the creative culture at Clayworks on Columbia. About his clay experience Lew shares, "Something wonderful happens to me every time I attempt to move the spinning clay into a form. It's as though the the air inside the vessel is the air inside my chest. We breath and grow together.  I have thrown countless pots. Some good. Some not so good. But the process is always rewarding, drawing me back again and again for almost a half century."

This workshop is limited to 15 people.
